This 1954 Austin-Healey 100 BN1 roadster was acquired by the seller in 1972 from its second owner and was refurbished by Fourintune in the early 2000s. The car is finished in red over black leather and is powered by a 2.7-liter inline-four paired with a three-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a removable black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, a tonneau cover, removable side curtains, a louvered hood, driving lights, and an adjustable windshield. This 100 is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, service records, literature, spare parts, refurbishment photos, prior awards, and a clean Virginia title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in Healey Blue, the car was repainted red during the aforementioned refurbishment. The right quarter panel was replaced at that time, and the front bumper was removed and its mounting holes filled. The rear bumper has also been removed but is included in the sale along with a black soft top, side curtains, and a tonneau cover. The louvered hood was refinished following an engine fire in the mid-2000s. Front driving lamps have been added.
The 15″ silver-finished 60-spoke knock-off wire wheels are mounted with Michelin XZX tires measuring 165SR15, and braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The bucket seats are trimmed in black leather with red piping and equipped with latch-and link lap belts. Interior appointments include a cabin heater, a passenger grab handle, and door pockets.
The wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 67k miles, approximately 10k of which were added under current ownership.
The replacement 2.7-liter inline-four was sourced from a later-model Austin-Healey and was rebuilt in the early 2000s, at which time it was fitted with higher-compression pistons, replacement SU HS4 carburetors, an SU fuel pump, and electronic ignition. An aluminum fuel tank has also been installed. Repairs were performed following the engine fire in the mid-2000s.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
A binder of refurbishment photos is included in the sale.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate lists the factory colors and serial numbers along with a build date of January 21, 1954.
The car is titled as VIN 1G13965 and has a reproduction plate showing car number 1G139650. The body number is not attached, along with the chassis number and later-model engine serial number.
