This 1954 Austin-Healey 100 BN1 roadster is a left-hand-drive example built for North American export on April 26, 1954. Acquired by the current owner in 2005, the car subsequently underwent a refurbishment that involved repainting the body in blue and silver and reupholstering the interior in blue leather. The 2.7-liter inline-four is also said to have been rebuilt and is mated to a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Additional equipment includes an adjustable-rake windscreen, Lucas driving lights, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, dual SU H4 carburetors, and a 12-volt electrical system. This BN1 roadster is now offered on dealer consignment in Idaho with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, a tonneau cover, service records, and a Washington State title.
The car left the factory in Spruce Green and was repainted in blue and silver following body repairs as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. Exterior features include a louvered hood with a leather strap as well as an adjustable-rake windscreen, a badge bar, Lucas driving lights, fender-mounted mirrors, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The car does not have a soft top or side curtains, and a tonneau cover is included in the sale.
Silver-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 165/80 Capitol Metric Radial tires. A covered spare is stored in the trunk. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, and the car is further equipped with independent front suspension and a live rear axle.
The cockpit features low-back bucket seats that have been reupholstered in blue leather that extends to the center armrest and door panels. Appointments include a heater, a dashboard-mounted mirror, and a wooden gearshift knob.
The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and supplemental gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 21k miles, which is said to represent the mileage covered since refurbishment. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.7-liter inline-four was reportedly rebuilt as part of the refurbishment. The car is equipped with dual SU H4 carburetors as well as a 12-volt electrical system.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville overdrive on the second and third gears.
The British Motor Industry Heritage certificate notes a completion date of April 26, 1954, and lists the factory colors, options, and identification numbers.
The engine number sequence 213013 shown above is listed as the VIN on the current Washington State title, which displays the Make as “AC” and carries a “Classic” brand.
