This exceptional Austin-Healey features special dealer-installed options in accordance with the highly desirable Le Mans specifications. An early production model, this Healey was completed in Carmine Red on May 7, 1954, as a left-hand-drive model made specifically for the North American market. Its early provenance is unknown; Jeff Warneke of Portland, Oregon, purchased it in 1984, and he eventually had the car disassembled and stored. The current owner purchased the car 30 years later and restored it over a two-year period.
As specified by the Austin-Healey 100 M "Le Mans" Registry, the car features an aluminum-louvered and leather-strapped bonnet, larger SU H6 carburetors, 100 M pistons and camshaft, special intake manifold, and cold air box. A badge denotes its 100 M status. The frame-off rotisserie restoration included a photo-documented engine rebuild to 100 M specs. Period factory options include chrome spoked wheels, a Le Mans gold-faced speedometer that registers up to 140 mph, chromium cockpit surround, a heater, and Moto-Lita steering wheel. Finished in Iridium Silver paint with a superb red leather interior, this Austin-Healey sports a new top and new Vredestein sport radial tires and is accompanied by new side curtains.
This 1954 Le Mans edition retains its original body-numbered parts and panels with corresponding ID plates. With its documentation and iconic British racing silhouette, this exceptional Austin-Healey is an outstanding addition to any driver's stable.
