As a first-of-line BN1 example, this 1954 left-hand-drive 100-4 features a 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive on all three ratios behind its inline-4. Another 100-4 signature is the unusual fold-back adjustable one-piece windshield, which slid down and forward to dramatically streamline its lines and add another dimension to true wind-in-the-hair motoring. This elemental and hedonistic experience is to be enjoyed all the more by fitment of the optional factory heater.
The factory-correct Carmine Red paintwork on the steel body is complemented by the red piping on the black upholstery and contrasting beige fabric convertible soft-top. The whole is finished off with 15-inch wire wheels with twin-eared knock-off hubs. A British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate completes the inventory. From 1953 to 1968, over 90% of the 70,000 “Big Healeys” produced went to the U.S. This is where the fairy tale romance began.
