This 1955 Austin-Healey 100 BN1 roadster was built in June 1955 and delivered to the United States, and an owner who reportedly acquired the car in 1966 had the vehicle refurbished in British Columbia, Canada, from 2003 through 2010. Powered by a 2.7-liter inline-four paired with a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive, the car is finished in red over beige upholstery with red piping. Features include dual SU carburetors, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, a removable black soft top, a black tonneau cover, removable side curtains, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and the car has been modified with PerTronix ignition, an aluminum oil sump, an alternator conversion, high-compression pistons, a Le Mans–profiled camshaft, and a Texas Cooler fan. This Healey was acquired by the current owner in 2022 and is now offered on dealer consignment with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, manufacturer’s literature, refurbishment and service records, and a clean Massachusetts title.
Finished from the factory in Carmine Red, the car received bodywork and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment conducted under prior ownership. Equipment includes a removable black soft top, a tonneau cover, removable side curtains, an adjustable windshield, a driver-side mirror, headlamp stone guards, chrome bumpers, and a single exhaust outlet.
Silver-finished 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 165R15 Vredestein Sprint S80 tires. Braking is handled by drums at each corner. The left-front wheel bearing was replaced in 2022, the parking brake was repaired, and the brakes were adjusted.
The bucket seats are trimmed in beige upholstery with red piping. Interior appointments include a cabin heater, a passenger grab handle, lap belts, and door-panel pockets.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a black dashboard with a silver-colored gauge surround. Smiths instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 49k miles, approximately 2,000 of which were added under current ownership. The coolant-temperature/oil-pressure combination gauge was replaced in 2022.
The 2.7-liter inline-four features dual SU carburetors and is said to have been modified with high-compression four-ring pistons, a Le Mans–reprofiled camshaft, an aluminum oil sump, PerTronix ignition, an alternator conversion, a spin-on oil-filter conversion, and a Texas Cooler fan. The cylinder-head gasket and the intake-manifold gasket were replaced in October 2022.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists a production date of June 10, 1955, and displays the factory equipment, colors, and serial numbers.
A binder of refurbishment records will accompany the vehicle along with a service manual and an owner’s handbook.
