This 1955 Austin-Healey 100 BN1 roadster is said to have been acquired by the seller’s father out of Florida in 1957 and brought back to Michigan, where it remained on the road for a number of years before being put into storage from 1968 to 1994. Chassis 227584 was subsequently relocated to Washington State and underwent a multi-year refurbishment by Northwest Auto Design beginning in 2019 that involved bodywork, a repaint, and mechanical service. Following completion of the project in 2022, the car won a best-in-class award in the British Elegance category at the 2022 Forest Grove Concours d’Elegance. Finished in blue with a blue vinyl soft top, the car rides on 15″ knock-off wire wheels and is powered by a 2.7-liter inline-four equipped with dual SU carburetors. Shifting is through a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and additional equipment includes bucket seats, a banjo-style steering wheel, and a Smiths heater. This 100 is now offered by the seller with a tonneau cover, a tool kit, trophies, and a clean Oregon title in the name of the their sister.
The car is said to have been stripped and undergone bodywork prior to a repaint in its current blue finish as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. It is fitted with a replacement blue vinyl soft top, and further details include an adjustable windscreen, fender-mounted mirrors, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
The silver-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured utilizing two-ear knock-off hubs and mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires tires. Braking is handled by drums at each corner.
The bucket seats are trimmed in blue vinyl with pleated inserts and split by a matching center armrest fitted over the transmission tunnel. Further details include a Smiths heater, a passenger-side grab handle, and door pockets.
The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 1,700 miles, a handful of which are said to have been added since completion of the refurbishment work. Total mileage is unknown.
The car is powered by a 2.7-liter inline-four that featured dual SU carburetors from the factory for a rating of 90 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. The oil was last changed in 2022, and the cylinder head gasket was replaced in 2025 after the photos were taken.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
A blue vinyl tonneau cover, a tool kit, and a spare wheel and tire are included in the sale along with trophies from the Forest Grove Concours d’Elegance.
