This 1956 Austin-Healey 100M BN2 roadster is the first of 640 100M examples produced by the Longbridge factory over a 10-month span and was completed on September 5, 1955. The car was restored by British Motor Corporation of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania prior to its acquisition by the seller in 2016, and it is finished in Carmine Red with a black soft top over matching leather upholstery. Power is from a 2,660cc inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and features include a louvered hood with a leather tie-down strap, a folding windshield, Lucas front fog lamps, Breitling stopwatches, and 15” knock-off wire wheels. This 100M is being offered with removable side curtains, a tonneau cover, a tool kit, car cover, spare set of wheels and tires, British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, a 100M Registry Certificate of Membership, racing helmet and gloves, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The car was finished in Carmine Red from the factory, and work during the restoration included acid-washing the body panels, performing rust repairs, and repairing the door posts prior to a two-stage repaint. Equipment includes a black soft top with removable side curtains, a fold-down windshield, chrome bumpers with overriders, Lucas front fog lamps, and a louvered hood with a leather tie-down strap. A tonneau cover, removable side curtains, and a car cover accompany the vehicle.

Silver-painted 15” wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and mounted with Dunlop tires. A full-size spare is found in the trunk. The four-wheel drum brakes and suspension were overhauled during the work in 2014.

The seats are trimmed in black leather with red piping, and black carpets line the floors. Additional equipment includes a dash-mounted rearview mirror, rubber floor mats, and twin Breitling stop watches located below the dash.

A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a body-color dashboard housing Smiths instrumentation that includes a 6k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 200 miles, though total mileage is unknown. The removed banjo steering wheel is included in the sale.

The 2,660cc inline-four features twin SU H6 carburetors that were overhauled during current ownership. The engine was rebuilt during the restoration, and work included acid washing and re-decking the head, balancing the connecting rods, rebuilding the water pump, installing upgraded pistons, and replacing the camshaft, valve guides, studs, timing chain assembly, oil pump, and gaskets. Two six-volt batteries have been fitted in place of the previous single 12-volt unit.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The floor pans and door sills were replaced during the restoration, and the transmission, overdrive unit, and differential were rebuilt.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate lists the factory colors and powertrain numbers and identifies the car as the first factory 100M produced. A 100M Registry Certificate of Membership can be viewed in the gallery.

Car was restored by Lynn Martin of Forever Healeys completed May 2023. Was concours judged in August 2023 and awarded Gold Level at the Encounter meet in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
