This 1956 Austin-Healey 100 BN2 roadster was built on December 19, 1955 and purchased new by the current owner’s father at Wisconsin Auto Sales of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The car underwent a refurbishment between 2009 and 2012, and it is finished in Healey Blue with two-tone stripes over dark blue leather. The car is powered by a 2.7-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and features include a removable dark blue soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, a tonneau cover, fender-mounted mirrors, a cabin heater, and bucket seats. This 100 most recently attended the Austin-Healey Conclave in September 2024 in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, and it is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner in Wisconsin with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, the owner’s manual, service records, a binder of refurbishment documentation, spare parts, prior awards, club magazines, and a clean Texas title in the owner’s name.
The car came finished from the factory in Healey Blue and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment. Features include a removable dark blue soft top, a tonneau cover, fender-mounted mirrors, chrome bumpers with overriders, and a single exhaust outlet. The seller notes various imperfections in the paintwork. A spare grille bar and driving lights included in the sale are shown in the gallery below.
The 15″ silver-finished knock-off wire wheels are mounted with Vredestein tires measuring 165HR15, and braking is handled by drums at each corner. Work in November 2024 consisted of replacing the brake shoes, wheel cylinders, and brake master cylinder.
The bucket seats are trimmed in dark blue leather, and interior appointments include a cabin heater, a passenger grab handle, Simpson latch-and-link lap belts, and door pockets.
The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer is inoperative and shows 68k miles.
The 2.7-liter inline-four was equipped from the factory with dual SU carburetors. Work performed in preparation for the sale included an oil change, carburetor and timing adjustments, and replacement of the head gasket, spark plugs, and rear carburetor float.
Engine tag 1B230092M is shown above, and a corresponding number is listed on the Heritage Trust Certificate.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The rear axle flange gaskets were replaced in preparation for the sale.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate lists the factory colors and serial numbers along with a build date of December 19, 1955.
The initial invoice from Wisconsin Auto Sales is dated March 27, 1956 and lists a total price of $3,082.
