This 1956 Austin-Healey 100 BN2 Roadster is finished in black over red and powered by a numbers-matching 2,660cc inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a red soft top, removable side curtains, 15″ wire wheels, a heater, and dual carburetors. The car was acquired by the selling dealer in 2019, reportedly from the original owner, and subsequent work included adjusting the carburetors and valves and replacing the wheels, water pump, fuel tank, battery, and front brake components. This Austin-Healey is now offered with recent service records, manufacturer’s literature, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Colorado title.

The car is finished in black and features a red soft top, a folding windshield, and removable side curtains.

Painted 15″ knock-off wire wheels and Pirelli Cinturato tires were installed during current ownership. The front wheel cylinders and brake shoes were replaced in January 2020. The removed wheels and tires are included in the sale.

The cabin features red leather bucket seats along with matching carpets and door panels. Equipment includes a heater, a passenger grab bar, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror.

The banjo-style steering wheel sits ahead of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The fuel-level gauge was repaired in 2020. The five-digit odometer shows 9k miles, approximately 10 of which were added by the selling dealer. Total mileage is unknown.

The 2,660cc inline-four is equipped with dual carburetors. Service during current ownership included adjusting the valves, timing, and carburetors, and replacing the following:

Water pump

Radiator hoses

Fan belt

12-volt Battery

Voltage regulator

Fuel tank

Fuel pump

Fuel lines

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Service in 2021 included flushing the transmission and differential fluids.

A factory service manual and owner’s handbook are included in the sale, along with recent service records.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists the original colors, powertrain numbers, and a build date of January 18, 1956.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
