This 1956 Austin-Healey 100 BN2 roadster was acquired by the current owner in 2008 and subsequently refurbished and modified with a 100M Le Mans conversion kit. Work included repainting the body, retrimming the interior, and overhauling the engine and transmission. The car is finished in red and white over black leather upholstery and powered by a 2,660cc inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Features include a louvered hood secured with a leather tie-down strap, an adjustable reclining windshield, a black soft top, twin SU carburetors, 15″ Minator alloy wheels with knockoffs, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a cabin heater. This 100 BN2 Roadster is offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, 100M Le Mans Registry documentation, and a clean Texas title in the owner’s name.
The car was factory-finished in black and was repainted in red with white lower bodywork during a refurbishment that is said to have been completed in 2011. Modifications include the Le Mans kit louvered bonnet and bonnet belt, and additional equipment consists of a black soft top, a reclining windshield, chrome bumpers with overriders, and dual side-view mirrors. Blemishes include chips in the paint and holes in the soft top. Close-up images of imperfections are available in the gallery.
Silver 15″ Minator alloy wheels are secured by two-lobe knock-offs and wear 195/60 Kumho Ecsta ASX tires that show 2007 date codes. The Le Mans kit suspension is said to have been fitted and braking is provided by four-wheel drums. Recent service reportedly included replacing the brake master cylinder and flushing the brake fluid. A set of factory BN2 wire wheels are included in the sale.
The cockpit features bucket seats upholstered in black leather with red piping joined by matching door panels and carpets and a body-colored dashboard. The cabin is said to have been retrimmed as part of the refurbishment, and additional equipment includes a cabin heater, a passenger-side grab handle, bright trim, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror. The driver’s seatback upholstery is scratched.
A 100M Le Mans Registry plaque is mounted to the passenger side of the dash and a matching certificate is shown in the gallery.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 46k miles, approximately 1k miles of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2,660cc inline-four features Le Mans kit components including dual SU carburetors, a cold air box, and unique inlet manifolds. The engine is said to have been refurbished in 2008, and recent service reportedly included removing fuel deposits from the fuel tank, intake manifold, carburetors, and cylinder head as well as an oil change.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with electronic overdrive. The transmission was reportedly overhauled under previous ownership.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate indicates a build date of March 9, 1956, as well as factory equipment and serial numbers.
