This 1956 Austin-Healey 100 BN2 roadster was acquired by the current owner in 2014, and a subsequent refurbishment involved repainting the car in ivory and retrimming the interior in red leather. Power comes from a 2,660cc inline-four equipped with dual SU carburetors, and it is backed by a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a red soft top and removable side curtains as well as a louvered hood, a folding windshield, a badge bar, driving lights, 15” knock-off wire wheels, and Smiths instrumentation. This BN2 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a tonneau cover, manufacturer’s literature, a tool roll, and a clean Oregon title.

The body and chassis were repainted in ivory during the aforementioned refurbishment, which was completed around 2020. The red soft top was replaced, and additional exterior details include a louvered hood, a folding windshield, a badge bar, driving lights, a driver-side mirror, and chrome bumpers with overriders.

Chrome-finished 15” knock-off wire wheels wear two-eared spinners and are mounted with 165-series Pirelli tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums.

The cabin has been retrimmed in red leather, and color-coordinated carpets line the floors. The dashboard fascia has been painted to match the body.

The banjo-style steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. An aftermarket ammeter has been fitted below the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 9k miles, approximately 500 of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 2,660cc inline-four is said to have been rebuilt under current ownership, and it is equipped with dual SU carburetors and a Le Mans–style air-intake plenum.

The engine number is shown above.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.

A tool roll will accompany the car along with an owner’s manual, a workshop manual, and removable side curtains.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
