This 1957 Austin-Healey 100-6 is a left-hand-drive four-seat BN4 roadster that was acquired by its current owner in 2006 and subsequently disassembled and refurbished. The exterior was refinished in blue, the seats were retrimmed with blue leather, and the 2.6-liter inline-six and four-speed manual transmission with overdrive were both rebuilt. Equipment includes a removable white hardtop, a blue soft top, side curtains, dual carburetors, 15″ wire wheels, driving lights, a stainless-steel exhaust system, and chrome bumpers and trim. This BN4 is now offered by the seller on behalf of its current owner with service records, photos documenting the refurbishment, a tonneau cover, and a clean Louisiana title.

The car was disassembled, the rocker panels and the floors were replaced, and the body was refinished in blue with a clear coat in 2010. Equipment includes a removable white hardtop a blue soft top, both of which are shown in the gallery below, along with removable side curtains, a tonneau cover, driving lights, and refinished chrome bumpers and trim. The left door was replaced during prior ownership and the removed door is included in the sale.

Replacement chrome-finished wire wheels with two-eared spinners are mounted with 15″ Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. A matching spare is mounted in the trunk.

The cabin features front and rear seats that were reupholstered in blue leather, along with a matching dashboard and door panels. Jute thermal insulation and Dynamat sound-dampening material were installed under the blue carpets, and the heater was removed and additional outside-air ducts were installed. Custom seatbelt mount points were welded in place, and a power point was also added.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and ancillary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 45k miles, approximately 1k of which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 2.6-liter inline-six and four-speed manual transmission were reportedly rebuilt by Randy Forbes in 2012. The engine is equipped with dual SU carburetors, a ‘Texas Kooler’ fan, a red-finished fan shroud, heat-wrapped downpipes, and a stainless-steel exhaust system. The carburetors were adjusted and replacement ignition components were installed in preparation for the sale. The seller notes some oil seepage.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists the original colors and initial delivery in Philadelphia. Chassis number BN4-LO/34099 is listed and matches the serial number on the car, and the title lists the VIN as BN4L034099. The body number 3491/1186 on the certificate does not match the stamped plate.

Additional images from various stages of the refurbishment and a USB drive with photos is included in the sale along with service records.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
