This 1957 Austin-Healey 100-6 is a left-hand-drive BN4 model that was purchased new at Sheward Motor Company in Pittsburg, Kansas. Following longterm storage, the car was acquired by the selling dealer in 2010 after 53 years with its original owner. It was then returned to running condition and has since been kept as part of the seller’s personal collection. The car now shows just 15,630 miles and remains finished in its factory color combination of Healey Blue over a blue interior. Power is from the original 2.6-liter inline-six, which is backed by a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. The car received a ZZenith Survivor certificate in 2011 and has only been driven approximately 60 miles during the past decade. Service performed in preparation for the sale included a fuel system cleaning and oil change. This 100-6 is now offered with tools, books, a history file, British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, and an Ohio title.
This 100-6 was built in March of 1957, the second year of six-cylinder “Big Healey” production, and remains finished in its factory blue. The longterm original owner claimed that the car was not repainted during her ownership, as indicated by a notarized 2010 letter shown in the gallery below. Areas of rub-though are reported in the finish, and a number of paint meter readings are also provided.
The original Dunlop Road Speed tires remain installed and can be used for display purposes only. In order to drive the car periodically over the past 10 years, the seller would temporarily install a set of spare wheels and tires. Included weather equipment consists of a blue convertible top and side curtains, as well as a tonneau and boot cover.
Blue factory leather and vinyl upholstery covers the seats, center console, and door panels. The waffle-type lower foam cushions, as well as the chalk marks on the wood supports and steel frames for the front seats, are still present.
Factory equipment includes a Smiths under-dash heater, 120-mph speedometer, and 6k-rpm tachometer. 15,630 miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, and the notarized letter from the original owner states that the car had 15,571 miles when acquired by the seller in 2010.
The 2.6-liter C-Series inline-six was rated for 117 horsepower when new and is mated to a four-speed manual transmission with a Laycock overdrive. After removing the car from longterm storage in 2011, the seller performed a fuel system cleaning, fluid change, and tune-up. An oil change and another fuel system cleaning have recently been carried out.
An Abarth side-exit muffler was reportedly added by the original owner and remains installed.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists the production date and confirms the original configuration.
The history file contains copies of the original purchase agreement and 1965 title, as well as the warranty certificate and a cardboard display sign from the original owner.
A ZZenith Survivor Collector Car certificate was issued in 2011.
The tool kit contains a combination ignition feeler gauge and screwdriver, as well as a spark plug/tappet feeler gauge, plug wrench, and combination Tommy bar/screwdriver.

Upon completion at the factory, it was shipped to Los Angeles, California before being sold to Peggy Sue Smith on June 19, 1957, via Sheward Motor Co. Inc. in Pittsburg, Kansas. Ms. Smith would own and cherish the Austin-Healey for the next 54 years. On May 19, 2011, Ms. Smith passed the car onto its next caretaker, Greg Pawluk, at which time it had traveled just 15,606 miles. The following month, on June 26th, the Big Healey was honored with Bloomington Gold’s ZZenith® Preservation Award, at Pheasant Run in St. Charles, Illinois. Having attained a perfect score, the car was designated one of the best-preserved collector cars in the world.
