This 1957 Austin-Healey 100-6 is a left-hand drive, four-seat BN4 roadster that is finished in black over red leather and powered by a replacement 2.9-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Additional equipment includes painted 15″ wire wheels, a banjo-spoke steering wheel, and a heater. The car is said to have undergone a cosmetic refurbishment under previous ownership in Texas, and was later relocated to Oklahoma where it was acquired by the selling dealer in 2019. This BN4 is offered with a clean Oklahoma title.

The car was repainted in black during a refurbishment under previous ownership. Rust repairs are said to have included new floor pans as well as outer rockers. Close-up photos of the paint and trim are shown in the gallery below.

Silver-painted 15″ knock-off wire wheels wear older Dunlop SP 20 metric tires that are said to be flat-spotted. A matching spare wheel with cracked Goodyear rubber is housed in the trunk.

The 2+2 cockpit has been reupholstered in red leather with matching carpets and door panels. Appointments include a banjo-spoke steering wheel, a heater, a chrome passenger-side grab handle, and rear seats with backrests that fold down to create a parcel shelf.

Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 3k miles, with the actual total unknown.

The replacement 2,912cc inline-six was reportedly sourced from a Mk III Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8, and was factory-rated at 150 horsepower when new. The twin SU carburetors were adjusted two months ago according to the selling dealer. The electrical system retains a generator and several glass fuses.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that is said to be a center shift unit with an electrically-actuated overdrive unit.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
