Sale 14802 - An Important Sale of Collectors' Motorcars and Automobilia featuring The Frank Cooke Collection Part II, 21 Apr 2007
Larz Anderson Auto Museum, Brookline, Massachusetts

    Lot No: 706•
    1958 Austin Healy 100/6
    Chassis no. BN4LS49611

Painted in attractive Mint Green over an Old English White side cove, this car is the four-seat version, upholstered in cream leather with mint piping. Built July 23, 1957, it received a body-off restoration four years ago and is equipped with the rare standard disc wheels. The accessory tonneau cover, side curtains and top boot are included.

The sound of a six-cylinder Austin-Healey is unmistakable. Driving one with wind in your hair is one of life’s most intense pleasures.

    Estimate: $40,000 - 60,000

Car to be at auction 3/11

    Auction description:
    1958 Austin-Healey 100/6 Roadster
    Estimate $ 30,000 - $ 40,000
    Chassis no. BN4LS49611
A perennially desirable British sports car, the Austin-Healey 100 was so-named for its ability to hit 100 mph. This BN4 could actually reach 104 mph. Restored about 7 years ago, this example from 1958 is excellent in presentation and ready to drive and enjoy.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
