This 1957 Austin-Healey is a works style 100/6 Austin Healey fitted with a very fast road tuned 3000 engine, and finished in black with a black and red interior. The car was fully rebuilt in 2012 by a good Austin Healey independent expert (Alan Haste Coachworks) and was being used as his private car until the vendor purchased it in 2016. It was built utilising a spare race prepared 3 litre engine from a Pat Cooper hill climb Healey 3000, built with forged crank and cylinder head by Dennis Welch.

This is an original right hand drive car with the original buff logbook in the history file, and was first registered on the 10th May 1957. The car was registered to Kathleen Goodall who lived in Oxfordshire. The car has been tuned up on the rolling road and produces 200HP with a very good flat 250 ft./lbs. toque curve.

This is a good-looking well-balanced performance Healey that drives very sportingly but still has manners in town. There are bills for many new parts but main upgrades are as follows;

Engine
• 3 litre engine upgrade to fully balanced system 200hp flywheel and 250 ft. /lbs torque.
• Fitted Filter King Works style triple SU carburettor set up recently tuned on the rolling road
• Upgrade to alternator system,
• Upgraded centre change gearbox with overdrive on 3rd & 4th gears.

Body
• Lightweight aluminium bonnet and boot.
• Lightened door handles
• Lightweight hard top
• The car has been de-bumpered and has leather bonnet and boot straps in the works style.

New parts include Front shock absorbers, Wiper motor, SU fuel pump, Motalita steering wheel Seat bases and foams, New trim panels , Speedometer, Bushes and bump stops. Rear brake cylinders and shoes, trunnions Front shock absorbers and adjustable shock tops, 4 pot Wilwood front brakes and front discs.

Paper work is limited to the last couple of years MoTs and service bills, but also comes with the original log book plus receipts from the rebuild. The vendor bought the car from Rawles Motorsport in Alton and it has been serviced there with other mechanical work carried out since including MoTs. Recent work carried out includes LED lights all round with halogen headlights fitted, Electronic ignition fitted and setup with improvements made. Rear and front suspension overhaul with wheel balancing. The vendor advises that the car currently has an agreed insurance valuation of £52,000.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
