This 1959 Austin-Healey 100-6 was sold new in the US and first registered in California. It was reportedly imported to Canada in 2000 and only recently acquired by the seller. Finished in light blue metallic with ivory white coves, power is supplied by a numbers-matching 2.6-liter inline-six. A standard 4-speed gearbox came fitted from the factory when new and an overdrive unit was installed under previous ownership. The seller has added approximately 300 kilometers over the past few months. This 100-6 is now being offered with a BMIHT certificate and a clear Ontario title in the seller's name.
The light blue metallic and ivory white finish is older and shows a fair number of blemishes, most notably on the front and rear valances. Much of the brightwork remains original and also shows its age. A replacement navy blue top soft top is fitted and a set of older Perspex side screens and a tonneau cover are also included.
Receipts from 2013 show that the front suspension was serviced with new control arm bushings, one replacement kingpin, sway-bar links, and a new upper control arm. Silver painted wire knock-off wheels come wrapped in a set of Dunlop tires. A California black plate stamped 1963 remains with the car.
The two-seat interior is trimmed in black vinyl with accenting white piping and light blue carpet. Separation is visible in the dash material around the outside edges, and a heater came equipped from the factory. 2,283 miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer, though the actual mileage is unknown.
The 26D 2.6-liter inline-six features a six-port head with an aluminum intake manifold and twin SU H6 carburetors. Factory-rated output was 117 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque when new. A 4-speed gearbox with overdrive has been installed under previous ownership, and the seller indicates that first gear will need to be repaired in the immediate future.
Engine #26D/U/H73062 is confirmed original by the included BMIHT certificate.
A factory dispatch date of December 20, 1958 is shown on the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate. The car was reportedly delivered new to the US, finished in black over a red interior, and optioned without overdrive or a tonneau cover.
