This 1958 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN6 is a two-seat roadster that was refurbished by Kurt Tanner Motorcars of Santa Ana, California before being acquired by the seller in 1996. The car is finished in white over red leather upholstery and powered by an inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes 15″ knock-off wire wheels, dual SU carburetors, four-wheel drum brakes, a black soft top, removable side curtains, and a cabin heater. The water pump was rebuilt in 2021, and service in June 2023 reportedly consisted of the installation of a spin-on oil filter and a tune-up. This 100-6 BN6 roadster is now offered with a tonneau cover, service records, an owner’s handbook, service manuals, spare parts, literature, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Massachusetts title in the seller’s name.

The car left the factory finished in Primrose Yellow and was repainted white by Kurt Tanner Motorcars in the mid-1990s. A black soft top and removable sliding side windows accompany the car, along with a tonneau cover that has been repaired with two patches on the edge seam. The seller notes a ding on the left front fender, chips on the A pillars, a bubble on the hood, and paint discoloration around the door seals and windshield seal.

The 15″ 48-spoke wire wheels feature two-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with 165-series Winsotn Metric tires. Braking is handled by drums at all four corners, and the brake shoes, wheel cylinders, and front lines were replaced under current ownership.

The cabin features front and rear seats that have been re-trimmed in red leather with white piping. Color-coordinated replacement carpets have also been installed, and the door panels and dashboard have been re-covered. Additional equipment includes a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a heater, an ashtray, and rubber floor mats. Two fuel pump mounting bolts are visible behind the driver’s seat.

The banjo-style steering wheel frames a Smiths 120-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows 62k miles, approximately 500 of which have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown. The horn button is cracked.

The inline-six was reportedly overhauled and modified with a BJ8-sourced cylinder head and camshaft during the refurbishment. Additional equipment includes dual SU carburetors, a spin-on oil filter, a coolant overflow tank, and a Austin Healey-script valve cover. The water pump was rebuilt in 2021. Service in June 2023 consisted of an oil change and replacement of the ignition coil, points, spark plugs, rotor arm, and condenser.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Corrosion is noted on the frame, a spare parts list provided by the seller.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists factory colors, equipment, and initial delivery to Los Angeles, California, along with a build date in September 1958.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
