This 1959 Austin-Healey 100-6 is a two-seat BN6 roadster that was refurbished and modified under prior ownership with a Ford “5.0 HO” V8 linked to a five-speed manual transmission and a 9” rear end. The car has been further modified with a louvered hood, fiberglass fenders, rack-and-pinion steering, front disc brakes, Koni shocks, and a 12-volt electrical system. The vehicle reportedly received a Ford V8 engine swap in North Carolina in 1967, and the current engine was installed in the 2000s. The seller acquired the car in 2022, and subsequent work is said to have involved a repaint in red and an interior retrim in black. Equipment includes a black soft top, Minilite 15” wheels, driving lights, fender vents, Speedhut instrumentation, and a Vintage Air heater and defroster. This modified 100-6 is now offered with side curtains, a removed front bumper, and Vermont registration in the seller’s name.
According to the seller, the car was modified in the 1960s with fiberglass fenders and was repainted red in 2022. Exterior features include a black soft top, a louvered hood, driving lights, fender vents, dual side mirrors, and a chrome rear bumper with overriders.
Minilite 15” alloy wheels are mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Braking is provided by discs up front and drums at the rear. According to the seller, the car is equipped with rack-and-pinion steering, Koni shocks, and Wilwood brake hydraulics.
The cabin features fixed-back bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl with color-coordinated door panels and carpeting. Additional appointments include bright dashboard trim, a Vintage Air heater and defroster, and diamond-stitched upholstery on the transmission tunnel.
The banjo-style steering wheel fronts Speedhut instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph GPS speedometer with an inset fuel gauge as well as an 8k-rpm tachometer and gauges monitoring coolant temperature and oil pressure. The seller states that the odometer has not been calibrated; true chassis mileage is unknown, and approximately 2k miles have been added under current ownership, according to the seller.
The seller states that the Ford 302ci “5.0 HO” V8 was installed in the 2000s and is equipped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an Airtex fuel pump, exhaust headers, a high-torque starter, a 12-volt electrical system, an Optima Red Top battery, an electric water pump, and an aluminum radiator with dual puller fans.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a Ford 9” rear end.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its Vermont registration, which lists the car as an Antique.
