This 1959 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN6 is a two-seat roadster that was acquired by the seller in 1998 following a refurbishment that reportedly including overhauling the transmission, refreshing the electrical system, refinishing the chromed surfaces, and replacing the floorboards, upholstery, carpets, and black soft top. The car is finished in red over a black interior and is powered by a 2.6-liter straight-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Features include a chrome grille and bumpers, a banjo-style steering wheel, a heater, dual SU carburetors, and knock-off wire wheels. Recent service included brake work and replacing the front wheel bearings. This BN6 is now offered in Maryland with removed parts, service records, and a clean Virginia title in the seller’s name.
The body is finished in red and comes with a removed black soft top that was reportedly replaced as part of the refurbishment that took place in the 1990s. Brightwork consists of fender-mounted side mirrors, body trim, a hood scoop, a grille, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Removed side windows are included in the sale.
Knock-off 15″ wire wheels are mounted with 165-series Cooper Sport 1000 Metric G/T tires. A spare wheel mounted with a Pirelli Cinturato P3 tire is located in the trunk, and braking comes from four-wheel drums. Recent service is said to have included replacing the driver-side wheel cylinders, the passenger-side brake hose, and the front wheel bearings before adjusting and bleeding the braking system in fall 2021.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl with a matching dashboard and carpets. Additional features include a heater, a grab bar for the passenger, a wooden shift knob, and a fire extinguisher.
A banjo-style steering wheel fronts a Smiths 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 3k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2,639cc straight-six is equipped with twin SU carburetors that were adjusted in November 2021. The seller notes occasional engine run-on. The generator and radiator were replaced in 2006.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Additional photos of the underbody are viewable in the gallery below.
The data plate on the firewall lists car number 1BN6L882, and the Virginia title shows a VIN of BN6L882.
