This 1964 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ7 is a four-seat roadster that was repainted red under previous ownership and has been with the seller since 2002. Power is from a 2,912cc inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with a Laycock overdrive unit. Aftermarket additions include chrome 72-spoke wire wheels as well as fender mirrors, rear seatbelts, and a six-blade fan. Cylinder head work is said to have been performed under current ownership along with a clutch adjustment in 2016 and annual oil changes. This Big Healey is offered with a luggage rack, manuals, and a clean Minnesota title in the seller’s name.
The car wears an older repaint in red and features MkII details such as a curved windscreen and vertical grille fins. The seller notes chips and cracks in the paint in addition to a misaligned trunk lid. Wire headlamp guards and bullet fender mirrors have been added.
Chrome 72-spoke knock-off wire wheels were installed under current ownership and wear 175R15 Michelin ZX radial tires. A tear is noted in the soft top.
Black vinyl covers the front bucket and rear “occasional” seats, the latter of which has been fitted with lap belts. The cockpit features roll-up door glass, wing windows, an aftermarket Sanyo radio, a wood shift knob, and vinyl floor mats protecting black carpets.
A banjo-spoke steering wheel with a hub-mounted turn signal switch frames Smiths gauges including a tachometer and a five-digit odometer said to show 20k miles. The seller has driven 4k miles in 19 years of ownership, and actual mileage is unknown.
The 2,912cc inline-six breathes through twin SU HS6 carburetors under mesh air cleaners. The cylinder head was removed for a valve job under current ownership in 2002, and a six-blade cooling fan was also fitted.
The four-speed manual transmission is synchronized in its top three gears and paired with a Laycock de Normanville overdrive unit actuated by a switch on the instrument panel. The clutch was adjusted in 2016, and the unassisted front disc and rear drums have reportedly been serviced.
A collection of manuals and an uninstalled chrome luggage rack are also included with the sale.
