This 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ7 Mk II is a four-seat convertible which has spent 32 years with the seller, who its reportedly its second owner. The car was repainted Healey Blue and cream in 2008, while the blue vinyl interior was reupholstered in 1990 according to the seller. A new top was fitted in June 2019 in preparation for the sale. Power comes from a 2.9-liter C-Series inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with an electrically-actuated Laycock overdrive. This BJ7 is offered with service records, factory literature, spare parts, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The car was repainted in its original combination of Healey Blue with cream coves in 2008 according to the seller. The condition of the paintwork, includes blemishes in the right quarter panel and the left fender. A blue tonneau cover is fitted over a black vinyl top that was fitted in June 2019.

Silver-painted 15″ knock-off wire wheels wear all-season radial tires. Disc brakes are equipped at the front, with drums in the rear. The calipers and drums have been painted red, and the seller reports that the most recent service included rebuilds of the rear wheel cylinders.

The interior was reupholstered in blue vinyl with white piping on the seats and center armrest in 1990 according to the seller. Occasional-use seats are featured in the rear parcel storage area, and black carpeting is protected by rubber mats.

The dash houses Smiths gauges including a five-digit odometer showing 49k miles, approximately 10k of which have been added during the seller’s 32-year ownership. There is some pitting on chrome trim rings and other trim.

The 2.9-liter C-series inline-six is mated to a four-speed manual transmission with an electrically-actuated Laycock de Normanville overdrive which can be engaged in third and fourth gears via a dash switch. The engine, transmission, and overdrive were overhauled in 2000 according to the seller, while more recent service reportedly included replacement of the ignition coil and distributor condenser. Induction is from twin SU carburetors which are said to have been rebuilt in 2016.

Service records from the seller’s ownership accompany the car along with the spare parts, factory literature, and service manual

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
