Auction description:
This Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is finished in British Racing Green over a black interior and powered by a 2.9L inline-six mated to a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The car was purchased in Louisiana by a friend of the seller’s uncle, who acquired it in the mid-1970s and sold it to the seller’s father in the 1980s. Bodywork, a repaint, and fitment of new chrome wheels were reportedly carried out following the seller’s acquisition in 2000. This BJ8 is offered with a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
The car is said to have been repainted in British Racing Green under current ownership.
Replacement 72-spoke chrome 15″ wire wheels are secured with knock-off spinners. The black convertible soft top cover is provided for use when stowed.
The cabin features black seats with tan piping, wood dash veneers, and black carpeting along with a wood shift knob and 3-spoke Moto-Lita steering wheel. An aftermarket Kenwood stereo replaces the factory unit. True mileage is unknown.
The 2,960cc C-series inline-six features dual SU carburetors and routes power through a 4-speed manual gearbox with electrically-actuated overdrive. The seller reports that his father had the engine rebuilt by a Houston, Texas British car specialist in the 1980s and that the fluids were changed last month.
