Car to be at auction 6/25

Auction description:
1965 Austin-Healey 3000 MK III BJ8
Estimate €45,000 - €65,000
Artcurial - Garden Party in Saint-Tropez, Saint-Tropez, France
28 June, 2025
Lot 111
Monaco title
Chassis no. HBJ8L/27282

- Only 1,390 units produced

- Most powerful and comfortable model

- Original European model

- No reserve
Chassis 27282 is one of them, and was first registered on 21st January 1965. Left-hand drive from the factory, it has European specifications with the speedometer in kph. When the current owner bought it in July 2017, the car had already been fully restored. It was entirely repainted in a sporty shade of red, and the interior in black leatherette has a lovely patina. It has since been regularly serviced by Garage des Moneghetti in Beausoleil and is in good working order, although we recommend a general servicing in principle, as the car has been seldom driven since its purchase. Powerful and elegant, but also more comfortable in the later versions, this BJ8 promises a pleasant ride.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
