This 1965 Austin-Healey 3000 was acquired by the seller out of Upstate New York 19 years ago and subsequently refurbished with a replacement frame, a repaint in red and white, and interior reupholstery in ivory with red accents. Power comes from a replacement 2.9-liter straight-six equipped with dual SU carburetors and mated to a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. Additional equipment includes chrome knock-off wire wheels, a white soft top, burl wood dash trim, and a wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel. This BJ8 has been driven fewer than 100 miles since completion three years ago, and is offered with service records from current ownership and a clean Washington State title in the seller’s name.

The car was refinished in red with white coves and is equipped with a white convertible top. A dimple is noted in the right front section of the aluminum hood.

The front bumper has been removed, while remaining brightwork includes a rear bumper with overriders as well as Lucas fender mirrors. Chrome wire wheels with double-eared knock-off nuts are shod with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires.

The cockpit features front and rear seats upholstered in ivory with red piping as well as a matching console, center stack, and door panels. Red carpets cover the floors, and the car is equipped with front lap belts. Equipment includes a heater, a locking glove box, a radio blanking plate, and a rear backrest which folds flat for additional storage.

A wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel rests in front of a burl wood dash panel housing Smiths instrumentation including fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature gauges as well as a speedometer, a tachometer, and a five-digit odometer reading approximately 47k miles. Fewer than 100 miles have reportedly been added since completion of the refurbishment three years ago, and actual mileage is unknown.

The replacement 2.9-liter inline-six was factory-rated at 150 horsepower with 158 lb-ft of torque when new and features polished dual SU carburetors, a Lucas ignition coil, and a Coventry radiator. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox.

The seller replaced the frame with a used version in better condition after acquiring the car.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
