Features include 15″ chrome wire wheels, PerTronix electronic ignition, and a replacement black soft top. The car was purchased by the seller from his friend in 2008, and subsequent service is said to include reupholstery of the interior and overhauls of the carburetors as well as the cooling, fuel, hydraulic, and brake systems. This BJ8 is now offered with recent service records, a parts catalog, a soft top boot, and a clean Minnesota title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in red and is said to have been repainted during prior ownership. Replacement chrome bumpers were installed by the seller, who repaired rust on the passenger door and fitted a replacement soft top that is shown in its raised position below and in the gallery. A matching top boot is included in the sale.
Replacement 15″ chrome-finished knockoff wire wheels wear 165/80 Kumho Power Star 758 tires. During current ownership the brakes were overhauled, and the seller states that the brake booster has been removed and bypassed.
The seats were re-stuffed and reupholstered in black vinyl with perforated leather inserts and red piping, and sound insulation material was installed under the replacement carpet, behind the door panels, and under the trunk liner. The refurbished dashboard is accented by burl wood veneer, and instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows just under 30k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. During current ownership the dual SU carburetors were rebuilt, PerTronix electronic ignition was installed, and the wiring harness, water pump, radiator, fuel tank, and hydraulic cylinders were replaced. The seller states annual oil changes were performed.
Rust on the passenger-side floor pan was repaired with fiberglass.
The car is supplied with recent service records, parts receipts, and a parts catalog. Refurbishment photos are included.

Lot #183164
This 1965 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was built in April 1965 and delivered new to a dealer in France, and it was owned in Minnesota from the late 1970s until it was previously listed on BaT in January 2021. Powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, the car is finished in red with a black soft top over black upholstery. Features include chrome 15″ wire wheels, front disc brakes, PerTronix electronic ignition, an AM radio, lap belts, and a top boot. The car was refurbished under prior ownership, and work performed since the previous BaT listing included adjusting the door alignment, overhauling the carburetors, repairing the heater, rebuilding the starter, servicing the brakes, and replacing the weatherstripping, spark plugs, and fuel filter. The selling dealer acquired the car in 2024. This BJ8 is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, service records, and a clean California title that lists the model year as 1967.
Finished from the factory in Colorado Red, the car was repainted under previous ownership, and the black convertible top and the chrome bumpers have been replaced. Rust on the passenger door was repaired by the previous BaT seller, and the doors were adjusted and the weatherstripping was replaced in 2022. Equipment includes round front turn signals and parking lights, a hood scoop, bright trim, a driver-side mirror, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes that there are chips in the paint.
Chrome-finished 15″ knockoff wire wheels wear 165/80 Kumho Power Star tires. The front disc and rear drum brakes were bled in 2022, and the brake booster has been removed and bypassed.
The 2+2 cabin features bucket seats that have been retrimmed in black leather with black vinyl trim and red piping. Interior appointments include wood trim, a British Motors Corporation push-button AM radio, front lap belts, and a locking glovebox. Dynamat sound insulation has been installed under the replacement carpeting, behind the door panels, and under the trunk liner. The cabin heater was repaired in 2021.
The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 31k miles, approximately 100 of which were added by the selling dealer.
The 2.9-liter inline-six has dual SU HD8 carburetors. PerTronix electronic ignition and a replacement wiring harness, water pump, radiator, fuel tank, and hydraulic cylinders have been installed. The carburetors were overhauled in 2021, the starter was rebuilt in 2024, and the spark plugs, fuel filter, oil, and oil filter were replaced in mid-2024.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive. Rust on the passenger-side floor pan has been repaired with fiberglass.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate indicates that the car was dispatched to a dealer in Paris, France, on April 21, 1965. Factory colors and options are also detailed on the document.
