Presented here for sale on Ebay is a highly original, complete 1966 Austin Healey 3000 MkIII BJ-8 Ph II sports convertible. It is a correct, genuine 47k original mileage car, with matching numbers, still wearing it's original British Racing Green paintworkand original, very good condition black Ambla trim with silver piping. The top is even the original one, although it's stitching has let go. It has the correct drivetrain fitted, and may even run with a little work (engine turns!). Please read on for an accurate and honest description of this well-preserved restoration car.
BODY: Nice, straight, original body with no bondo or filler. Excellent, solid shrouds front and rear. This car is totally accident free!. Needs some typical Healey rust repair including trunk lid lip, doglegs, inner and outer rockers, fender bottoms. Solid trunk floor, hood, doors, outriggers look good. Floors need some repair, but look solid for the most part. Excellent fitting grille! Excellent headlamp and sidelight areas.
CHASSIS: Excellent, straight solid chassis mainrails with no accidents. All four outriggers appear good, with some surface rust only. Solid rear spring hanger points. Front suspension mounts are clean and straight. Doors close well with no sagging. Good, solid original frame.
MECHANICS: Speedo reads 47,051 original miles. Engine turns and may even run with some light work. Engine bay is highly original with all of the correct clamps, fittings, hardware, etc. Steering box turns smoothly with no play. Gearbox shifts through all the gears with no slop. All correct suspension and brakes. Car is fitted with original 60-spoke painted wire wheels still fitted with original Dunlop Gold-Seal 5.85x15 cross-ply tires! Car comes with spare tire and original knock-off hammer. All correct and original mechanicals with low mileage.
TRIM: Car is complete with all original chrome still fitted to the vehicle. Some pitting on front grille and upper lip and trunk hinges, but all other chrome is decent and rechromable. Nice orignal front badge with excellent enamel. All original Triplex glass. Windshield needs replacing. Very nice original black interior panels with front and rear seats and armrest console is in very good shape (possibly to be cleaned and reused). Overall, this 3000 MkIII is the most desirable production Austin Healey being the late, double-light variant. It is offered here on Ebay in highly original condition, ready for straight forward restoration. This is a rare opportunity to secure such a low-mileage, un-messed-with vehicle, in a desirable factory color scheme. With this escalating Big Healey market, these sought after late grand tourers are seldom available in this condition. This vehicle is sold with the clear, current California title.
