This 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is finished in British Racing Green over black and powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Features include an overdrive unit, a black soft top, 15″ wire wheels, driving lights, a luggage rack, dual SU carburetors, front disc brakes, and a BMC radio. The car was delivered new in Chicago and acquired by the seller in 2015. Recent service consisted of repairing a fuel leak. This big Healey is now offered at no reserve with recent service records, a tonneau cover, a British Motor Heritage Trust certificate, and a Washington title in the seller’s name.
The body is finished in British Racing Green, and equipment includes a black soft top and matching tonneau cover, driving lights, and a luggage rack. The left-rear fender was repaired and refinished under previous ownership and rust bubbles are noted on the lower section.
Painted 15″ wire wheels are secured with two-eared knockoffs and wear 185-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The front bucket seats and rear cushions are upholstered in black with perforated inserts. Features include a banjo-style steering wheel, a heater, and a BMC radio. There are cracks in the wood trim.
Smiths instruments include a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 37k miles, approximately 2k of which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six features dual SU carburetors and was rated at 150 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque when new. The exhaust system and fuel tank were replaced in 2017, and recent service included repairing a fuel leak on the carburetors.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission equipped with an overdrive unit.
