This 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is a non-running project that was acquired by the seller 52 years ago out of Vancouver, British Columbia. Finished in British Racing Green over black vinyl, this example is equipped with a 2.9L inline-six paired with a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive. A fiberglass front clamshell was installed by the seller, and the car was last serviced prior to longterm storage approximately 15 years ago. This BJ8 is offered at no reserve with a removable hardtop, a tonneau cover, a car cover, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
British Racing Green paint shows its age with a number of chips and blemishes along with rust around the rockers and trunk. A front-hinged fiberglass clamshell was installed by the seller, reportedly to gain easier access to the engine compartment.
The car is equipped with a rear luggage rack and 15” knock-off wire wheels. An aftermarket hardtop is pictured on the vehicle in the gallery below, and the sale includes a tonneau cover and supporting bar. A 6-digit blue California license plate is mounted in the rear.
Bucket seats are trimmed in black vinyl. The matching carpets show heavy wear, and the dash wood is in need of refinishing. A period radio and wood-rimmed 3-spoke steering wheel are retained. Approximately 79k miles are reportedly shown on the odometer, 68k of which were added during the seller’s 52-year ownership.
The 2.9L inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and mated to a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The car has not been driven in several years and was last serviced around 2003 according to the seller. Spare parts, service records, manuals, and other documentation.
