This 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III is a non-running project that has been with the seller since 1974. A fiberglass grille surround and fenders were installed following a 1975 accident, and the car is equipped with a rebuilt replacement 2.9L inline-six sourced from a 1967 model as well as a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive. This BJ8 is offered with a fabric top, tonneau and top covers, partial refurbishment records, miscellaneous parts, and a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name.
Steel replacement panels were reportedly unable to be sourced following the 1975 accident, and a set of fiberglass panels were installed in their place. The car was subsequently repainted light blue, and now shows various scuffs, scratches, and areas of peeling around the bodywork.
The black fabric top is shown in both raised and lowered positions in the gallery, and a matching top cover and half-zip tonneau cover will also be provided. The front grille is missing in photos, but will be included with the car.
The interior is trimmed with blue vinyl over the bucket seats, matching door panels, and wood trim on the dash. The carpets have been removed along with the transmission tunnel cover and center console.
The 5-digit odometer reportedly shows just over 31k miles, just 3,000 of which are said to have been added by the seller since 1974.
The replacement 2.9L inline-six was reportedly installed by Trident Specialty Machine of Cincinnati but has not yet been connected with the 4-speed manual transmission, which is equipped with a Laycock de Normanville overdrive.
