This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is finished in red with black side coves over black vinyl upholstery and is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired linked to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a black soft top and top boot, a tonneau cover, 15″ wire wheels, front disc bakes, chrome bumpers and trim, dual SU carburetors, a stainless-steel exhaust system, a Moto-Lita steering wheel, Smiths instrumentation, and a push-button AM radio. The car was acquired by the seller in 2019 and subsequent service is said to have included replacing the soft top and rebuilding the carburetors. This BJ8 Mk III is offered with service records and a clean Wisconsin title in the seller’s name.

Additional equipment includes a black top boot, a tonneau cover, a driver-side mirror, vent windows, chrome bumpers and trim, and dual exhaust outlets with polished finishers. Pitting is noted on the lower grille surround, a rubber plug is visible to the left of the trunk lid.

Silver-painted 15″ wire wheels secured by two-eared knock-offs are mounted with 165/80 Classic Radial LL800 tires. A spare wire wheel with a Michelin spare is stored in the trunk. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted front disc brakes with cross-drilled and slotted rotors.

The 2+2 cabin houses front bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl with silver piping along with color-matching door panels and carpets. Interior details include burl wood veneer dashboard panels, a push-button AM radio, a cabin heater, front lap belts, Austin-Healey-branded rubber floor mats, and a dash-mounted rear-view mirror.

A wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 46k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 2.9-liter inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and an aftermarket cooling fan. Service under current ownership is said to have included replacing the fuel pump, rebuilding the carburetors, and changing the oil.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with an electronically actuated overdrive unit. The transmission and clutch were replaced in 2015 along with installing a stainless-steel exhaust system. The finish is peeling from the underbody.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
