This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is finished in green over black upholstery and powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Additional equipment includes a black soft top, dual carburetors, 15″ wire wheels, chrome bumpers, and an AM radio. The car was sold new by Imported Cars of Greenwich, Connecticut, and was acquired by the current owner in March 2020. This BJ8 is offered on dealer consignment with a driver’s handbook, a workshop manual, a spare set of wheels, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, service records, and a clean California title.
Finished from the factory in Dark British Racing Green, the car features a black soft top, chrome bumpers with overriders, bullet-style mirrors, and twin exhaust outlets. The driving lamps were reportedly repaired in January 2020. Rust is visible near the bottom of the rear fenders.
Chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 165-width Metric Radial tires. Braking is handled by front disks and rear drums, and the brake lines were replaced in May 2018. A spare set of five silver wire wheels is included in the sale.
The cabin features front bucket seats and rear cushions upholstered in black vinyl with perforated inserts and metallic piping. Amenities include a burl wood dash, a heater, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a locking glovebox, lap belts, roll-up windows, an AM radio, and Austin-Healey branded rubber floor mats.
A three-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 24k miles.
The 2.9-liter inline-six features dual SU carburetors and was rated at 150 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque when new. Service in January 2020 included overhauling the clutch master and slave cylinders in addition to replacing the fuel pump and axle seals.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with electronic overdrive.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists factory colors, equipment, and a dispatch date of December 7, 1966.
