This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was purchased by a family member of the seller in 1990, and it was acquired by the seller in 2020. Powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, the car is finished in blue with a blue soft top over blue leather upholstery. Equipment includes 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, dual SU carburetors, a top boot, a luggage rack, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and front and rear seatbelts. Work performed in mid-2020 involved overhauling the brakes, flushing the fuel tank, installing the seatbelts, and replacing the fuel filter, clutch cylinders, headlights, tires, carpeting, and steering wheel. This Healey is now offered with an owner’s manual, Austin-Healey literature, recent service records, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Healey Blue, and the blue folding soft top has been replaced, according to the seller. Features include a top boot, a hood scoop, a driver-side mirror, a luggage rack, bright trim, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The headlights and the turn-signal wiring were replaced in May 2020. Rust is noted on a bumper, the hood is dented on the left side, and other imperfections are visible.
Chrome-finished 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 165SR15 Michelin XZX tires that were replaced in 2020, at which point the braking system was overhauled. The driver’s side axle hub assembly was replaced in 2024.
The 2+2 cabin features bucket seats trimmed in blue leather. Three-point front seatbelts and rear lap belts were added in 2020, and the carpeting was replaced. The heater is inoperable.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel was installed in 2020 and fronts a wood dashboard and Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 45k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. The fuel tank was flushed in May 2020, the seller tells us, and the fuel filter and the upper and lower radiator hoses were replaced. The exhaust system was overhauled with new flex pipes in 2024.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive. Corrosion is noted on underbody components. The clutch cylinders were replaced in May 2020.
