This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III roadster is finished in Healey Blue over blue vinyl, and power comes from a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a blue soft top, 15″ wire wheels, chrome bumpers and trim, headlight guards, wood trim, and a Titan AM radio. The car was acquired by the seller in Canada five years ago, and subsequent work consisted of overhauling the engine and gearbox, replacing the brake booster and exhaust system, and performing an oil change. This 3000 BJ8 Mk III is now offered with service records from the seller and British Columbia registration.

The seller states that the body was refinished in Healey Blue in the 1980s. Equipment includes a navy blue soft top, a blue boot cover, headlight guards, chrome trim, fender mirrors, and bumpers with overriders. A corrosion bubble is present on the underside of the front passenger fender near the door.

Painted 15″ wire wheels are equipped with two-eared knock-off spinners and mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint S80 tires. A spare painted wire wheel is stored in the trunk. The suspension has been overhauled and the front discs and rear drums refreshed. The brake booster was replaced in 2021.

The seats are trimmed in perforated dark blue vinyl, and equipment includes walnut trim, seat belts, a locking glovebox, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a wood shift knob, and a Titan AM radio. Under the seller’s ownership, sound-deadening material has been added to the floor panels, and the window guides, brushes, and seals were replaced. Wear spots are noted on the door panels.

A banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 69k miles, approximately 2,500 of which were added under current ownership.

The 2.9-liter inline-six is fed by dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 150 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. The engine was rebuilt in 2018 by Auto-Mann of Calgary, Alberta, and service in 2021 consisted of replacing the exhaust system and performing an oil change.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox with a switch-activated Laycock electric overdrive that has been overhauled. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
