This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive and is finished in red over black vinyl upholstery. It has a replacement black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, dual SU carburetors, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a heater, and an aftermarket stereo and speakers. The car was acquired by the seller in 2013 and service in June 2023 reportedly consisted of changing the oil, cleaning and gapping the spark plugs, and servicing the distributor points, cap, and rotor. This BJ8 is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, a driver’s handbook, Austin-Healey literature, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car left the factory finished in Colorado Red and was fitted with a replacement black soft top under current ownership. Exterior details include a hood scoop, a front badge bar, vent windows, dual door-mounted mirrors, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The right portion of the rear bumper is bent, the left-front parking light is inoperative, a dent and chipped paint are present at the rear of the right quarter panel, and a scratch and paint blemishes on the left quarter panel.
Silver-finished 15″ wire wheels secured by two-eared knock-offs are mounted with 165-series Centred Metric Radial tires. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes.
The 2+2 cockpit features low-back front bucket seats and a contoured rear bench trimmed in black vinyl upholstery with patterned inserts and contrasting piping. Wood veneer trim accents the dashboard, and additional appointments include a locking glovebox, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a cabin heater, lap belts for all occupants, and an aftermarket stereo linked to speakers under the dashboard.
An aftermarket wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and supplemental gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 90k miles, approximately 4,500 of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.9-liter inline-six features dual SU carburetors with pancake air cleaners and was factory-rated at 148 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. The seller states that service in June 2023 consisted of changing the oil, cleaning and gapping the spark plugs, and servicing the distributor points, cap, and rotor.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Corrosion is visible on the underside of the car.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate indicates that the car was dispatched to the United States on March 6, 1967, and lists the build date, serial numbers, colors, and equipment.
