This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III BJ8 convertible underwent a fully documented, complete nut-and-bolt, frame-off restoration. This is one of 501 Austin Healey BJ8s imported to the U.S. in the Golden Beige Metallic Anniversary color for the model year, certified by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust. The original engine has been rebuilt and is mated to a Toyota 5-speed transmission. All suspension is new or rebuilt. Equipment and accessories are period-correct, except the transmission. It has an alternator conversion, high-torque starter and electric fuel pump. A Kool Mat hi-tech racing heat shield was used in the driver's and passenger's floor and firewall, making the car cool and comfortable. The rear end was lowered slightly to contour the wheels and improve the stance. The interior upholstery by John Skinner is period-correct, with the exception of the hand-sewn shifter boot. Titled as a 1967 AUHE PCV.

This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was acquired by the seller in 2016 and subsequently underwent a multi-year refurbishment completed in 2024. Work involved disassembling, media-blasting, and repainting the body in its factory Metallic Golden Beige paint scheme as well as rebuilding the 2.9-liter inline-six, installing a Toyota-sourced five-speed manual transmission, and overhauling the chassis and suspension. Inside, the seats have been re-trimmed in black leather sourced from John Skinner Ltd. and are accompanied by gauges that were rebuilt by Nisonger Instruments. Further equipment includes a black soft top and top boot along with dual SU HD8 carburetors, front disc brakes, and 15″ ventilated steel wheels. This 3000 Mk III is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, refurbishment records, the removed transmission, spare parts, and a Maryland title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in Metallic Golden Beige (BG19), the car underwent a color change to blue at some point under previous ownership. The body was disassembled and media-blasted before being returned to its factory paint scheme as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. Further details include a replacement folding black soft top and color-coordinated top boot along with a hood scoop, a driver-side mirror, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The seller notes a ding behind the rear bumper.
The 15″ ventilated steel wheels wear Austin-branded hubcaps and are mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The seller tells us that various suspension parts were powder-coated or treated with POR15 as part of the refurbishment and that the rear suspension has been lowered by 1″.
The 2+2 cabin features bucket seats that were re-trimmed using black leather sourced from John Skinner Ltd. of Gloucester, England. The car was re-wired as part of the refurbishment, and the floors were lined with Kool Mat insulation. Mahogany wood veneer accents the dash, and further appointments include a cabin heater and a locking glovebox along with lap belts for the front passengers.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel features drilled spokes and is accompanied by a wood shift knob paired with a custom black leather boot. It frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges that were rebuilt by Nisonger Instruments of Mamaroneck, New York, as part of the project. The five-digit odometer shows 62k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.9-liter inline-six was removed, cleaned, machined, and bored .020″ over as part of the aforementioned rebuild. Various components were repainted before the engine was assembled, and the flywheel was also resurfaced as part of the engine work. The engine breaths through dual SU HD8 carburetors and is accompanied by a Hi-Torque starter, an alternator, and an electric fuel pump.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through Toyota-sourced five-speed manual transmission that was retrofitted using an aftermarket kit. The transmission fluid was changed and the clutch hydraulic system was bled in January 2023. The removed four-speed manual transmission is included in the sale.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate indicates that the car was built in March 1967, and lists the factory serial numbers, colors, and equipment.
The current Maryland title carries a “duplicate or corrected” notation.
