This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is finished in Metallic Golden Beige over black upholstery and powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a black soft top, a badge bar, a Moto-Lita steering wheel, front disc brakes, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, and a Motorola push-button radio. The car was refurbished in the early 2000s and was acquired by the seller in 2023. This BJ8 is offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, an owner’s manual, a repair manual, a spare steering wheel, and a clean Virginia title in the seller’s name.
The car came finished from the factory in Metallic Golden Beige with a black soft top and was repainted in the early 2000s. The seller notes blemishes and wear on the chrome bumpers.
Painted 15″ wire wheels wear two-ear knockoffs and are mounted with 165-series Dunlop SP 20 A/S tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The brakes were reportedly bled in preparation for the sale.
The front bucket seats and individual rear seats are upholstered in black vinyl with gold piping. Equipment includes a Moto-Lita steering wheel, a Motorola push-button radio, front lap belts, roll-up windows, and wood trim. The removed banjo-style steering wheel is included in the sale.
Instrumentation consists of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 9k, approximately 100 of which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six is fed by dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 148 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. The car was reportedly serviced following long-term storage that included a fuel system cleaning, coolant flush, and an oil change.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate indicates that the car was built in May 1967, and lists the serial numbers, colors, and equipment.
Chassis number HBJ8L41408 and the sequence is listed as the VIN on the title with a “Z” at the end.
