This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was restored in 2012 in its original color scheme of Metallic Golden Beige over black. Its numbers-matching 2.9-liter inline-six is mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and recent mechanical work included installation of a new clutch. The seller has owned the car for four years. This Healey is now offered with a knock-off hammer, a BMIHT certificate, photos and documentation of the restoration, and a clean North Carolina title in the name of the seller’s company.

The BJ8 is from the final year of Austin-Healey 3000 production, and it features a curved windshield, vent windows, and roll-up door windows. The exterior was refinished in the original color of Metallic Golden Beige during the refurbishment completed in 2012. Some stone chips have been filled in and are shown in the photo gallery below, which also includes pictures taken during the restoration process.

Wire wheels were among the factory options on this car, and they are mounted with Federal Super Steel 657 tires bearing 2015 date codes. Photos with the black convertible top raised are included in the gallery.

The interior is finished in black vinyl and includes rear jump seats. The dash features burl walnut trim, and a wood shift knob is present. The wood-rim steering wheel is a replacement, and the removed factory unit is included. The rearview mirror is located atop the dashboard, and the seller had it remounted on a higher platform to improve rearward visibility.

The odometer indicates just under 95k miles, approximately 600 of which have been added by the seller. A toggle switch on the dash operates the electric overdrive. Dynamat Dynaliner reportedly was installed in the passenger compartment to diminish road noise.

The matching-numbers 2.9-liter inline-six is fed by twin SU carburetors and was rebuilt during the restoration. Under current ownership the starter motor, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and distributor cap reportedly have been replaced. The clutch, pressure plate, and release bearing were done in April 2019. An electric fan has been installed and is set to turn on at 185 degrees. It also can be operated via a manual switch located under the dash. A screw-on oil-filter adapter has been installed, and the oil and filter were changed in April 2019.

The chassis features an independent front suspension with coil springs and a solid rear axle with leaf springs. Braking is via cross-drilled and slotted front discs as well as rear drums. Additional pictures of the underside can be viewed in the gallery below.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate indicates that original equipment included wire wheels, heater, black tonneau cover, adjustable steering column, Roadspeed tires, laminated windshield, and overdrive.

www.ebay.com/itm/255828093777

Car has a buy it now price of $93,000 for 17 days, seller desron1964, 96k miles, now in Cave Creek, Arizona.

Seller's description:

Numbers-matching late model 1967 Austin Healey 3000 MK III BJ8.

The restoration appears to be frame off and was completed in 2012. It was reported that during the restoration the engine along with the carburetors and clutch assembly were rebuilt. It would also appear that the hydraulic lines along with many aspects of the suspension including bushing were replaced as well.

The 2.9 liter inline-6 engine runs strong and is mated to the 4-speed manual transmission with electric O/D in working order.

The paint, Golden Sand Metallic is as close or possibly the same as the original metallic Golden Beige color per the BMIHT certificate of which reportedly only 543 of the last of the "Big Healey's" were painted and is in near excellent condition with a few minor imperfections (see Pictures).

Disc front brakes with discs being drilled and slotted, rear drum brakes. DOT 4 brake fluid.

All gauges, electrical, toggle switches and lights are in working order. Battery is strong.

Chrome is in excellent condition including the 60 spoke chrome rims. Stainless steel exhaust system.

The original factory installed radiator ( is included with the purchase) was replaced with a more efficient Wizard Cooling radiator made exclusively for the Healey 3000 due to the summer temperatures in Arizona.

Vehicle Options/Additions include: Phone/GPS charging outlet, Transmission tunnel and floor covered with a heat shield material, Wood rimmed steering wheel, Luggage rack, Badge Bar, Fog Lamps (toggle switch under dash), Factory heater and Adjustable steering column.

New Vredestein Sport Classic radial tires were installed March of 2022 including the spare tire as well.
