Car to be at auction 4/12
www.barons-auctions.com/details.php

Auction description:
Lot No:
Manufacturer Austin Healey
Model 3000
First Registered June 1960
Registration No YLN 800
Engine No 29DRUH7541
Chassis No HBN7 5911
MOT None
Colour Colorado Red
Offered here is a rare, right hand drive, 2 seat model (BN7) made for the UK market in 1960. Just 157 examples of this model were sold in the UK as against 672 examples of the BT7 four seater.

In the 1960's this car was modified for rally use with additional Koni shock absorbers added to the front and 19 leaf rally springs fitted to the rear - these changes are easily reversed if required. In addition fibre glass wings were fitted to save weight and the front wings had vents incorporated to improve engine cooling. To improve performance the SU's were replaced with twin choke Webber carbs but the original SU's are supplied with the car in case a new owner wishes to convert back. A Moto-Lita steering wheel was also fitted and non standard seats. A pair of standard seats will be supplied with the car but these will need total refurbishment.

This car has been in the possession of the current owner since 1973 but has been stored in a dry garage and not used since 1979.The car had a current MOT when taken off the road in 1979 but will need refurbishment to get it back on the road after 33 years in storage. The car comes complete with old style green log book showing owners back to 1964, petrol ration book and various other documents.

Note: This is now a running, driving car, which starts on the button and even stops. It was driven to the MoT station and has now been issued with a failure certificate with the no major failure notes. An estimate of around £500 has been quoted to secure an MoT.

Guide Price: £8000 to £10000

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
