This 1961 Austin-Healey 3000 BN7 Mk I is a left-hand-drive two-seat roadster that is said to have been purchased new in England and subsequently shipped to Hawaii by the previous long-term owner, with whom the car remained until the seller’s acquisition in 2020 when it was placed into storage. The car is finished in white over red vinyl upholstery and is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Additional equipment includes a hood scoop, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, Smiths instrumentation, and dual SU carburetors. This 3000 BN7 is now offered with a 1961 certificate of ownership, a driver’s handbook, a tonneau cover, convertible top hardware, removable side curtains, and a clean Hawaii title in the seller’s name listing the car as a 1960 model.
The car is finished in white and features a hood scoop, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Paint chips, bubbles, and scratches are present throughout the body, chrome components are pitted, and a dent is noted on the left-front fender.
Silver-finished 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with two-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with 165/80 Nexen SB-802 tires. Stopping power is provided by front discs and rear drums.
The cabin features low-back bucket seats trimmed in red vinyl upholstery accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Appointments include a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, a passenger-side grab handle, and Austin-Healey-branded rubber floor mats. The carpets are threadbare, bubbling is present on the dashboard trim, and splits are noted in the seat upholstery.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 51k miles, less than 100 of which have been added under current ownership.
The 2.9-liter inline-six is equipped with an alternator and a pair of SU carburetors. The engine oil and coolant were changed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission fitted with an optional electrically operated overdrive unit. The underside was cleaned in preparation for the sale and a rust inhibitor is said to have been applied. The seller states that the overdrive unit needs adjustment. Corrosion is present on the passenger-side footwell, inner sills, and underbody components. A hole in the frame is noted on the right-front frame rail near the sway bar attachment point.
The car number HBN7L12834 is shown on the data plate, and the Hawaii title lists a VIN of HBN7L012834.
