Auction description:

• Good condition car, strong runner, engine is essentially brand new

The Healey has received a substantial amount of work under the current keeper’s ownership, with over 22,000 Euros spent on restoring it and further costs attached to its recent recommission. 

However, as the car has been owned as a business asset, there are no invoices available for the work. It’s evident from the condition that thorough restoration has been carried out. 

All of the parts were acquired from Moss Europe – one of the best-known British car parts suppliers in the world.

The car has spent two decades as a centrepiece in an indoor car showroom so has been stored in a dry, dehumidified environment. 

THE INTERIOR

The interior of the Healey is very smart, with retrimmed light beige leather seats front and rear and replacement brown woven carpets which are of a high quality standard. 

The gear lever gaiter, door cards and upper dash rail match the leather seat fabric, while the original wooden dashboard is in good preserved order.

THE EXTERIOR

Finished in classic pale metallic blue – an iconic Healey colour – the 3000 looks terrific and the vendor reports that it is corrosion-free, having been restored by one of his automotive businesses in the 2000s. 

A minor bump has seen one wing replaced and the colour id ever-so-slightly out in certain lights. 

The car has smart silver-painted (rather than chromed) knock-on wire wheels with new tyres all round. 

THE MECHANICS 

 • Comprehensively overhauled

 • Steel block engine

 • Around 6,000km on new engine

 • Gearbox overhaul

 • New brakes

The Healey has had a massive mechanical overhaul with a new steel block engine (not cast iron) that has covered around 6,000km. It has had the ignition system, camshaft, valves, radiator, piston rings and carburettor replaced. 

The gearbox has been fully overhauled and the brakes replaced. Indeed, the vendor reports that the only mechanical part that hasn’t seen attention is the rear axle.
