This 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 Mk I was acquired by the seller in the early 2000s and subsequently underwent a repaint in red with black side scallops as well as a rebuild of the 2.9-liter inline-six as part of a body-off refurbishment completed in 2014. Shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission linked with a Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive unit, and equipment includes dual SU HD6 carburetors, a replacement black soft top, black upholstery with red piping, Lucas fog lights, Girling front disc brakes, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel as well as a heater and air conditioning setup from Vintage Air. This 3000 Mk I is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, service records, a partially disassembled hardtop, spare parts, and a clean Tennessee title in the seller’s name listing the car as a 1961 model.
The car left the factory finished in Colorado Red (RD2) and was repainted in red with black side scallops as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. The car wears a replacement black soft top, and further details include Lucas fog lights, fender-mounted mirrors, plexiglass wind wings, and chrome bumpers. A portion of the provided photos were taken in August 2025, and the seller tells us that the car has covered approximately 400 miles since then.
The black-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-ear knock-offs and are mounted with 165/80 Nexen tires. Braking is handled by Girling front discs and rear drums, and the system is said to have received new hydraulics, pads, shoes, rotors, and lines.
The 2+2 cabin features bucket seats trimmed in black upholstery with red piping, and Dynamat sound deadening material was applied before the carpets were installed. A Vintage Air heater and air conditioning setup has been added, and further interior appointments include a dash-mounted mirror, door storage pockets, and front lap belts. The seller notes that the upholstery on the upper dash is separating.
The split-spoke steering wheel features a wood rim. Smiths instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature, all of which the seller states were rebuilt by Nisonger to be compatible with the car’s retrofitted negative ground electrical system. The five-digit odometer shows 63k miles, approximately 6k of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD6 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 137 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The engine was reportedly rebuilt and fitted with replacement carburetors and a spin-on oil filter as part of the refurbishment process. The seller notes that the wiring harness was replaced, an alternator replaced the factory generator, and a modern starter was fitted. Additionally, a new coil and ignition components were used, the fuel tank, pump, and lines were replaced, and an electric cooling fan was installed in front of the radiator, which is said to use Evans Waterless Coolant. No engine ID number tag is present.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive. The seller tells us that rust-preventative coating was applied within the wheel wells at the time of the paintwork.
A partially disassembled hardtop that has been repainted black is included in the sale along with new seals and assorted trim parts for reassembly.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate for car number HBT7L10440 lists factory colors and identification numbers along with a June 1960 build date.
A reproduction chassis tag is affixed to the firewall, and the body number tag is missing.
