This 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 Mk II is a four-seat roadster that underwent a cosmetic refurbishment in the early 2000s and has been refinished in metallic blue over dark blue vinyl upholstery. Power is provided by a 2.9-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and additional equipment includes a blue soft top and tonneau cover, chrome 15″ wire wheels, front disc brakes, a heater, and Smiths gauges. The car was acquired by the current owner in July 2020, and subsequent work included repairing and tuning the triple SU carburetors, repainting the gearbox, and replacing the oil pan, fuel lines, clutch disc, slave cylinder, and pressure plate. This 3000 BT7 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a BMIHT certificate, removable side curtains, service records from current ownership, photos from the refurbishment, a luggage rack, and a conditional Georgia title.

The car was finished from the factory in Florida Green and was repainted metallic blue under previous ownership. Equipment includes a blue soft top and tonneau cover, a hood scoop, mesh headlamp guards, chrome bumpers with overriders, and twin exhaust outlets. Removable side curtains are included in the sale. A blemish on the trunk lid is visible.

Chrome 15″ wire wheels wear two-ear knockoffs and are wrapped with 165-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were mounted in September 2020, and a matching spare is stored in the trunk. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.

The cabin features front bucket seats and individual rear seats that are upholstered in dark blue vinyl with white piping and are joined by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Coco floor mats are fitted in the front, and additional appointments include a heater, dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, and passenger grab bar.

A banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation that consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. A toggle switch for the electronically actuated overdrive is located on the right side of the instrument panel. The speedometer needle bounces while driving. The five-digit odometer shows 484 miles, and total mileage is unknown.

The 2.9-liter inline-six is equipped with triple SU carburetors that were tuned and repaired in September 2020, at which time the oil pan and fuel lines were replaced and an oil change was performed.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The gearbox was repainted and the fluid was changed in September 2020, and additional work at that time included replacing the clutch disc and pressure plate along with the clutch slave cylinder, release bearing, and hose.

A British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists factory colors, equipment, and a build date in September 1961.

Photos taken during various stages of the refurbishment accompany the vehicle, along with service records from current ownership and a luggage rack.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
