Auction info:
The full rally spec engine comprises tuftrided crankshaft, lightened flywheel, heavy-duty 9-inch diameter clutch, Cosworth pistons, DWR 2 300 degree camshaft, original though fully gas-flowed cylinder head, triple Weber carbs with tubular exhaust manifold - exiting under-floor into a side exhaust, and anti-surge baffled sump in aluminium. Safety upgrades include foam-filled safety fuel tank also in aluminium, full front and rear roll-over cage, and tandem master cylinder with dual-circuit disc brakes all round. A centre-change gearbox has straight-cut Sebring ratios, the transmission tunnel handbrake quick-release and in aluminium, the overdrive up-rated for competition and the differential a limited-slip. Inside are Halda Speedmaster and Tripmaster, plumbed-in fire extinguisher and original standard-type seats in black leather with four-point harnesses. Sparco high-back race/rally buckets are supplied as spares. Up front are four front bumper mounted Hella Rallye 1000 spot-lights. As a really well prepared and sorted historic motor sport car, and clearly an extremely competitive one at that, BSK 940 has clocked up numerous victories in Isle of Man events and a class win on the Monte Challenge in 1991, since when we understand it has been carefully dry stored. Current chassis condition is described as good and the same goes for the body panels in Teal Blue over OEW and the wire wheels. The black leather and vinyl interior is rated as fair, the 2991cc motor and four-speed manual box with overdrive reportedly in good order. In receipt of a full service recently and with fresh MOT test pass, the current certificate valid until May of next year, this Big Healey is said to be absolutely on-the-button and ready for lots more action. It comes with `Historic Vehicle' and therefore tax-exempt disc on the screen until the end of the year as well as full FIA Papers and an RAC Rally Special Stage Log Book enabling you to take part in MSA-regulated rally or speed events next weekend. Apart from taking many months in the workshop going nowhere, replicating a sportscar to this specification, especially to this quality, would also cost you a small fortune. Much time and money can be saved by bidding for this car.
