This 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 is a four-seat BT7 roadster that was purchased new in Escalon, California and is said to have remained with its original owner until 2003. The car was then sold to a neighbor who performed a body-off refurbishment completed in 2009, and was acquired by the seller in 2011 before being listed on BaT in May 2018. Power comes from a 2.9-liter inline-six and a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive that were rebuilt in 2005, and the car is finished in red with a white soft top over a tan interior. Features include an integrated third brake light, a heater, lap belts, and more. Carburetor and valve adjustments were performed within the past two years. This Mk II BT7 is offered with a sales invoice copy, refurbishment records and photos, spares and accessories, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Delivered from the factory in white, the car received bodywork and a repaint in its current Viper Red during the 2000s refurbishment. An integrated LED third brake light was added along with fender mirrors and chrome exhaust tips.
Chrome 72-spoke knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 195/65-15 Doral SDL 65 tires. A matching spare wheel is housed in the trunk. Plexiglass wind wings and a chrome luggage rack are included in the sale, as are a set of side curtains, a tonneau cover, and a car cover.
Black factory interior trim was replaced with tan upholstery and matching carpets during the refurbishment. The cockpit is equipped with a heater and Securon lap belts.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 120-mph speedometer and tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows just over 40k miles, 2,500 of which have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six is fed by triple SU HS4 carburetors and was factory-rated at 131 horsepower. The engine was rebuilt with new bearings, valves, seals, and other components in 2005 along with the four-speed manual gearbox, which is mated to an electrically-actuated overdrive. Service performed since 2018 included carburetor and valve adjustments as well as an oil change.
