Car to be at auction 8/15
rickcole.com/1960-austin-healey-3000-mark-i-bt7-22-roadster/
Auction description:
Completely restored by marque expert Kurt Tanner Restorations.
Stunning Kurt Tanner restoration of a two-owner vehicle to Austin-Healey Club Gold Concours standards. Example of the definitive "Mark I" six-cylinder Austin-Healey in a rare and highly desirable, factory-specified color combination. Complete with British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate, weather gear, manuals, and restoration photo-album. Fully rebuilt mechanicals, strong performance, and exceptional quality.
Offered complete with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, this truly beautiful 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 Mark I 2+2 is an original left-hand drive, North American Export model. Finished in rare black over red livery, the colors it retains today, the Healey left BMC's Abingdon works on late July 1959 and on July 30, it was shipped to the United States, via Hambro in Fort Worth, Texas. Highly desirable factory options included wire wheels, adjustable steering column, laminated windscreen, overdrive, a heater, and Roadspeed tires. The second owner acquired the Healey in 1963 and retained it until only recently.
As offered, the Healey clearly benefits handsomely from a freshly completed body-off, nut-and-bolt, rotisserie restoration performed to Austin-Healey Club Gold Concours standards by marque expert Kurt Tanner. During the restoration, the Healey received a show-quality, bare-metal repaint in its factory-original black, plus installation of new rubber seals, new chrome, and a new windscreen, while the interior was beautifully restored to match with installation of new leather upholstery. Mechanical systems were completely rebuilt and restored to match, including the engine, gearbox, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrics, including a new wiring harness and installation of a new exhaust system. Equipped with full weather gear including a new black convertible top and side screens in their proper storage bag, the Healey includes on a complete set of new 60-spoke chrome wire wheels plus a spare, mounted on radial tires. In addition to owner's and service manuals, the Healey also includes a photo album fully documenting the restoration.
Upon inspection, this Healey's quality shines through with exceptionally accurate panel gaps and shut-lines, like-new operating condition, and excellent driving experience. A top-notch Kurt Tanner restoration to concours standards with rare and extremely desirable factory-specified colors, this vehicle is unquestionably one of the finest "Big Healeys" available today.

I have seen quite a few mistakes made on BMIHT certificates. For this car, I question the accuracy of the certificate when it gives the original engine serial number of a BT7 as 29K/RU/H3513. The 29K series engine was installed in MK III BJ8s, not MK I BT7s. Most peculiar!
Too bad the photos don't include a picture of the engine serial number plate. But even if it shows the engine currently installed to be 29K/RU/H3513, I seriously doubt it was original to this car from the factory.

Anyway, BMIHT original factory build records say that engine 29K/RU/H3513 was original to HBJ8L/28786.
