This 1959 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 is a rolling chassis that was acquired by the seller three months ago from a dealer in Maryland after it was taken out of long-term storage in Indiana. A 2.9-liter inline-six and a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive are included in the sale, though neither are currently installed. The car has been partially coated in primer and comes with wire wheels, a banjo steering wheel, and seats trimmed in older black vinyl. This 3000 BT7 project is offered with uninstalled exterior, interior, and mechanical parts as well as transferable New Hampshire registration in the seller’s name.
The body wears several colors of primer, and rust-through is noted in two of the four outriggers, the trunk floor, the rocker panels, the doglegs, and the front fenders. Evidence of older rust repair is observed on the fenders and rocker panels. The following exterior equipment is included in the sale:
Front grille and upper molding
Aluminum cockpit moldings
Lights
Headlight buckets and trim rings
Bumper brackets
Windshield frame and supports
Door handles and latches
Windshield washer bottle and bracket
Fuel tank filler neck
Miscellaneous chrome trim
Nuts, bolts and fasteners
Painted 60-spoke knock-off wire wheels are mounted at each corner. Brake drums, backing plates, and a set of extra rotors accompany the car.
The cockpit retains a banjo steering wheel, while the seats, brackets, dashboard, speedometer, tachometer, and handbrake components have been removed but are included in the sale. The oil pressure and coolant temperature gauges are missing.
The 2.9-liter inline-six is stamped 29D/RU/H498 and comes equipped with a starter and generator, two SU carburetors with linkages and heat shields, a radiator, and intake and exhaust manifolds. A four-speed manual transmission and overdrive unit are also included.
The differential remains installed, while the driveshaft and front sway bar have been removed. Additional images of the underside can be viewed in the gallery.
The seller notes that the fuel tank, rear shocks, trafficator switch, and soft top frame are missing.
