This 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 is a 4-seat BT7 roadster that has been with the seller in California and Oregon since 1967, including 30 years spent as a daily driver. Power comes from a 2.9-liter straight-six mated to a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Sheet metal repairs and a repaint in factory black were completed in 1982 along with refurbishment of the red leather interior and fitment of a replacement black soft top. A service in 2016 included installation of a rebuilt distributor, new spark plug wires, and a 5-blade cooling fan among other work. This BT7 is offered with a tonneau cover, service records, a BL Heritage Limited certificate, and a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.
The seller states that the body was refinished in its factory black in 1982 following replacement of the floor pans, trunk floor, rear fender inserts, and rocker panels. The chrome trim was also replated at that time. The finish shows its age in photos, and a dent is noted on the cowl along with chips and rust under the paint.
Chrome 60-spoke wire knock-off wheels are mounted with 15″ radial tires. A black soft top is fitted but has not been used in many years according to the seller. A matching tonneau cover and side curtains are included in the sale. The car has reportedly been garage-kept since 1967.
The 2+2 interior was also refreshed with red leather and matching wool carpeting in 1982. Equipment includes a heater, a 3-spoke banjo steering wheel fitted on an adjustable column, and Smiths gauges. The 5-digit odometer shows approximately 82k miles, though it was reportedly disconnected for a period of time and is not accurate.
The 2.9-liter straight-six is equipped with triple SU carburetors and mated to a 4-speed manual transmission with an electrically-actuated Laycock de Normanville overdrive. A 5-blade cooling fan has been added and the seller states that the distributor, vacuum advance unit, points, condenser, and ignition wires were replaced in 2016. The trunk-mounted battery and tray were also replaced at that time, and a battery shut-off switch was installed.
The British Leyland Heritage Limited certificate notes the production date, original colors, and factory equipment. Recent service records and a manual are included in the sale along with a description provided by the seller.
