This 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 is a four-seat Mk I roadster that was built on May 2, 1960 and was acquired 35 years ago by the seller. A refurbishment completed in 1998 by Fourintune of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, included a bare-metal repaint in metallic blue and white, interior reupholstery in blue leather, and a rebuild of its 2.9-liter inline-six. Shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and the car features a removable blue soft top and tonneau cover, side curtains, dual SU carburetors, bullet mirrors, and knock-off wire wheels. This BT7 is offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, a shop manual, records from current ownership, refurbishment photos, and a Texas title in the seller’s name.
Factory finished in Colorado Red, the car received a bare-metal repaint in its current metallic blue with white coves. Brightwork includes replacement bullet mirrors and chrome bumper overriders, and areas of pitting are noted by the seller. A blue soft top and frame, a black tonneau cover, and removable side curtains are included in the sale.
Replacement 72-spoke 15” knock-off wire wheels wear older Goodyear G800 tires. The seller notes areas of rash on the wheel nuts. A matching spare wheel is housed in the trunk. Braking is provided by discs up front and drums in the rear.
The cockpit features four seats that were reupholstered in blue leather to match the dash pad and door panels. Lap belts are fitted for the front occupants. Amenities include carpets, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a center armrest, and a passenger grab handle.
A banjo-spoke steering wheel frames a Smiths speedometer, tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 75k miles, with the actual total unknown.
The 2.9 liter inline-six is said to have been rebuilt with forged pistons during the 1998 refurbishment. Dual SU carburetors are fed by two electric fuel pumps, the second of which was installed for emergency use in 2018 by Ron Shimek Auto Service Center of Austin, Texas. Additional work at this time included replacement of the front carburetor mixture needle and a fuel line. The engine mounts and radiator fan were replaced in 2018.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The second, third, and fourth gear synchros were replaced during the 1998 project.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate lists a shipping date of May 2, 1960 along with factory colors and options.
Additional photos and records from the 1998 refurbishment are included along with receipts from 2010-2019.
