It was approximately 7 or 8 years ago that I had focused onto an Austin Healey. One way or the other, I wanted to drive one although I was studying and was actually not able to afford such a car. With some help from my parents I was able to buy a very nice Austin Healey.

But because...

Anyway, my parents won the battle and I bought a very nice Austin Healey 100-6 BN2. It was a fantastic car in the same color combination as this Healey 100-4.

The sound was excellent but I was still thinking of the 100-4 and there was actually 1 big reason for that. I dreamed of a Healey from which I could let the window go down.

A Healey 100-4 has in my opinion everything. It can be a relative comfortable car which can be driven when it is raining with a comfortable soft top. It can be driven open with grandma when the front window is up and it can be really raced around the track with grandpa with the front window down.

In my opinion the Healey 100-4 really has 3 faces and all of them have a specific character.

If you have the Healey in the garage, it is a fantastic car to look at. Take a seat, put on some good music and put the window down. If you look at the lining of the car, then it is amazing that it was possible to build these cars in the fifties.

If you have decided to buy a Healey 100-4 then you can still think of buying a BN1 or a BN2. We prefer the BN1 as it is the real Healey. The Healey where it all started with and which is in my opinion the purest Healey to drive. The 3 speed gearbox is fantastic. It has the perfect gear ratio as long as the overdrive is working well.

This specific Healey with chassis number BN1/149643 is an Healey with 100M Le Mans kit.

The car has was built on the 8th of December 1953 and was delivered to the United States. In 1999 the former owner decided to buy the Healey as being a restoration project.

He bought the car for 3.290,- guilders which is nowadays the same in euro?s. The bill of sale is still with the car and it can be seen that it has been shipped from Miami to the Netherlands.

By looking at the pictures of the car from that time, it is clear that it needed attention. A complete nut and bolt restoration has been carried out. Every single part has been brought back to pieces and has been carefully restored. This must have cost a lot of time and off-course an enormous amount of money.

Nowadays, after the restoration, the body looks fantastic, with very nice doorfittings and chrome.

Some restoration pictures are coming with the Healey.

The Healey is currently fitted with brand new painted wired wheels as we personally prefer that under a Healey 100-4. If you prefer to have chrome wired wheels, we can eventually change these.

Driving the Healey is fantastic. Personally I like the car much more when the window is down. It feels like a race car although it starts to becoming cold now.

The gearbox is shifting excellent and the overdrive is working at the moment of clicking.

Actually I can write a long story about the driving capabilities of the Healey but if you know something about these cars you know how fantastic a good Healey can drive, and this really is a good Healey which is driving absolutely excellent.

In short; this is a very nice looking Austin Healey 100-4 BNI in a superb color combination which is driving exactly as it has to drive.

This Austin Healey 100-4 BNI is eligible for the Greatest Road Race in the World, the Mille Miglia!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
